A · Firstly, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Fredrik: My name is Fredrik Färg and together with Emma Marga Blanche, we founded our design studio FÄRG & BLANCHE  in 2010 based in Stockholm after several year working on our own. I’m Swedish and Emma is French.
The studio designs furniture and lighting for several design brands and we also run our own production with exclusive furniture, both with unique editions for galleries and for architects.

B · What’s your favourite part of the design process?
It´s when we find a new technique, when we make new experiment that can turn up really surprising. Because then you know that you have some exiting moment in front of you. And also the moment when we take the pictures of our product, because its the first time you see and can communicate your creation and idea for real.

C · Please tell us more about your art and design background and what made you become an artist and designer?
Emma- My mother is a painter, she is actually one of the people sharing the atelier with us. I have been focusing on art since early years in school, and i have made 3 years of design and interior design in France and also been a art teacher in India.
Fredrik- My background is in craft, I’m an educated fine cabinet maker and I also have a master of fine art and design. My design interest have grown on me gradually until one day it became my natural day life, and I have always been in-between choosing going into school of fashion or design. For finally choose design.

D · Where do you get inspiration?
A lot in the fashion handcraft and history, but also in Art.

E · What was the movie or book that impressed you the most?
We like to watch documentary’s for example on Artist life, the last one was on Jakson Polock life or the really good architecture documentary “Koolhaas housewife” of Ila Bêcka and Louise Lemoine. But for sure also a classical film like “play time” from Tati, you really discover something in it each time you see it.
F · Can you describe your style, how has that style developed over the years?
We both have an interest for the fashion industry, textile handcraft and technique innovation so its obvious that you can see it in our work since the beginning. Our style have for sure evolved when we began to work together,
Its been giving us a lot of energy and we are pushing each other to always test more and pull the projects further. We continue developing our knowledge in the handcraft, experimenting and now are able to apply it on both art project or for company, like with our Emma armchair for Gärsnäs.
G · What are you working on at the moment?
WE are developing our F-A-B chair collection that are a continuation of Fredriks RE-cover chair.
The F-A-B chair series is based on the idea of the chair acting as a body. The chair can be used nude and bare, but also reveal a whole new personality when dressed in something a little bit more extravagant, thus functioning as a load-bearing structure for textile creations. We are going to exhibit them in Milan in April in an exhibition called “New Makers and Doers” at superstudio piú. we are also going to exhibit a unique edition of the Succession serie at Fabrica del Vapore during the fair in milan too.
H · For you what makes a product rare?
Design that make you fell something, the quality of the detail, the chose of material, the proportion, sometime you can´t explain it, it is like art even if it´s made to use.
